I was so excited this year to start planning. Instead of new years goals this year I wanted something that would keep me motivated all year long. I decided to make a planner that fit my needs and goals perfectly. I wanted something where I could have a monthly evaluation of my goals, weekly and daily. I’ve designed the planner to sit down once a month and do a monthly council/ planning, a weekly planning where we do an inventory our relationships and take time to work through problems and recognize the positive in one another, and daily planning where I actually plan to accomplish all the goals. It’s still in the perfecting stage and I want to add some yearly planning sheets (still not there yet.) Christmas lists, Birthday parties lists…ect.
What would you like to see in a planner?
Try this planner out this year for free. Simply download and send to print. I printed mine at home. Front and back. (if you don’t have a front and back printer you may need to mess with it a little to make sure it comes out right.) I printed and laminated the cover and back and then I took it to staples to bind it.
We all wish there was a manual that comes with our babies right. Well, we have a lot of tools and research that has gone into parenting. Reading parenting books is a great way to be more deliberate with the way we act with our children. After all, we kind of create their whole world to start with. I wanted to share some of the books I’ve read that have changed the way I parent and act with my kids.
Raising an emotionally intelligent Child by Dr. John Gottman
This book is intense but I love it because it provides tools to help children cope with their emotions. (which are behind their actions) It taught me how to teach my child how to be emotionally intelligent.
Love and Logic
Love and logic provides an excellent toolkit to deal with the day to day misbehaviors and teaching responsibility and self motivation to our kids.
Mindful Discipline
Mindful discipline goes right along with “raising and emotionally intelligent child. It is a little easier to read though.
Peaceful parent, Happy Siblings
Ever worry about sibling rivalry. This book is helping me view my kids in a perspective that i can raise them to love each other!
We are doing a countdown chain for the #lighttheworld Christmas campaign. If you want to join us download the pdf here.
This sheet is if you want to print on the back to match the front. |
A great FHE that can help prepare your family for an emergency is to review and pack your 72 hour kit. Emergency preparedness can give us security and a plan in case of emergency. Imagine that having to get up and leave is an actual reality. Would your 72 hr kit be sufficient?
This FHE is inspired by this family’s awesome story here.
Start FHE With a song and prayer
we sang “I will go, I will do”
After the prayer announce to your kids that you are having an emergency practice. Everyone has 3 minutes to get everything they will need for the next three days and be in the car. After the three minutes are up tell everyone to get in the car.
If you have a 72 hr kit already, throw it in.
After this experience you can can with your family about what you learned. Do you think you are prepared? What would you need to be more prepared? Does everyone know where and what is in the 72 hour kits?
Make a list of everything you may need in your 72 hour kit. We just used this one.

We had a super fun bug party for my 3 year old. We basically kept it pretty simple with a couple of cute buggy touches. He’s only three so we didn’t have any kids over but had a great party with family.
I made up a cute buggy banner:
download here. (doesn’t include characters.)
Added these cute gift tags and printed off some pretty creepy bugs to go along with it.
you can get the editable gift tags here. Search “bug silhouettes” for great bugs to go with it. i used this one and this one.
The Cake was the best however. We had the best dirt cake ever with some creepy crawly bugs added on top.
The delicious dirt cake recipe was courtesy of pinterest and tasted simply divine. You can find that recipe here. I took added crushed vanilla oreos to one of the layers to shake it up and i liked how it turned out.
The bugs came from this great idea here! I ended up tracing different bugs so they aren’t exactly the same but still loved the way they turned out.
